LeClaire celebrates 190th anniversary

This weekend provides action, food and other fun for visitors as LeClaire celebrates its 190th anniversary. Here’s the schedule:

1. Buffalo Bill Wild West Show, June 29-30:

Immerse yourself in living history with Buffalo Bill, June 29-30.

See amazing trick shooting, expert horseback riding stunts, and so much more!

Looking for family fun that blends history and excitement? Set up the wagon and mosey on down to Buffalo Bill’s Best of the Wild West – hosted by the Buffalo Bill Museum! During this ticketed event, you will “meet” cowboy legends like Annie Oakley, Buck Taylor, and Buffalo Bill himself and watch them perform feats of skill and strength – behind-the-back trick shots, side-saddle horseback riding, a full-blown arena show extravaganza and more. Be sure to visit the period-accurate vendors selling old-world wares, take a historic teepee tour, or pan for gold with prospectors. Watch history come alive with the whole family in LeClaire, Iowa this weekend!

? There is limited parking at Cody Elementary School, which is why there will be shuttle buses running both days from the Levee in front of the Buffalo Bill Museum (right on the riverfront) up to Cody Elementary School.  There will be additional parking available at the LeClaire Fire Department, 201 N. 15th Street, with shuttle bus service.

? You can purchase tickets at the Museum before boarding the bus to save time or purchase them at the gate of the event.

? The show starts promptly at 12:30pm both days.

? No pets.

? No coolers.

? No alcohol.

? There is hay bale seating, but feel free to bring your own lawn chair or blanket.

? The grounds open at 10:30am and close at 4pm on Saturday; close at 3pm on Sunday.

? There will be a pop-up concert both days by Jordan Mohr and Cale Bowe.

? Food trucks will have food and beverages for sale.

? Boomtown (the re-enactors campsite area and other fun displays) will be open during the day.

In LeClaire, we are partying like it’s 1834 in celebration of our treasured Mississippi Rivertown’s 190th birthday. Join us for this FREE event on Saturday, June 29 from 4-9pm on the LeClaire Levee following the Buffalo Bill Best of the Wild West Show and enjoy all the birthday fun! There will be a petting zoo, face painting, balloon animals, and street magic performances alongside live music, bingo, and a fireworks show that the whole family is sure to love. And don’t forget to pick up some free ice cream – Happy Joe’s Pizza and Ice Cream Parlor will be dishing up their tasty treats (while supplies last)!

? Bingo at the Levee Pavilion presented by the LeClaire Civic Club: 4-9pm

? Wapsi Wrangler Shoot-out: 4:15-4:45pm

? Balloon animals for kids: 4:30-6:30pm

? Street magic performances: 5-6pm

? Live Music by Jordan Mohr: 5pm & 6pm

? Live Music by Jubilo: 7-9pm with Contra Dancing instruction

? Uncle Norm’s Fireworks show: After 9pm (at the north end of the Levee)

3. Get your whiskey on and meet some of the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show performers at the Celebration Center during the Wild West Whiskey Night:

Come and experience the thrill of the Wild West at the Mississippi River Distilling Company! Meet the talented performers from the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show, dressed in full authentic outfits, enjoy specially crafted cocktails, an Old Time photo booth, and participate in a $5 Raffle to win a Whiskey Barrel and $50 gift card! Don’t miss out on delicious offerings from two local food trucks.

5. Sightseeing cruises aboard the Riverboat Twilight on June 29 at 11am, 1:30pm, and 4pm. The 90-minute cruises take place every Saturday now through the end of August, except for August 10. Tickets available online at www.riverboattwilight.com or at the ticket office on Saturday.
