In 2022, he had announced his retirement at the end of Season 31. He had only missed two seasons in 17 years.
"I've decided I'd like to spend more time with my grandchildren and family back in Britain," he said during the season finale. "I cannot thank you enough, the Dancing with the Stars family. It's been such a wonderful experience for me."
DWTS is paying tribute to Goodman by renaming the coveted Mirrorball Trophy after him. It will now be the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.
"The Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy will now be lifted on Dancing with the Stars like the Vince Lombardi trophy is lifted at the Super Bowl," executive producer Conrad Green told USA Today. "We wanted to make Len a permanent part of this show, to always remind people the importance he's had to Dancing With the Stars and how much he meant to all of us."
ABC did not replace Goodman for Season 32. The series is airing with three judges and no head judge.
