Lena Dunham poses poolside in a bikini: 'Just stunning'
Lena Dunham is embracing her bikini body just in time for summer.
The Girls star took to Instagram on Friday to share a photo of her posing poolside in a brown bikini.
"Sometimes I forget how important it is to wear a bikini," she wrote. She also tagged the bathing suit brand Hunza G which has one size fits all swimwear marketed to fit a size U.K. 6 to 16.
People in the comment section praised the cute suit, as well as how good Dunham looks in it.
"Just stunning," singer Sam Smith wrote.
Another person commented, "Now I want to wear a bikini!"
Although the message is simple, it's an important one for the 36-year-old, who has been open about being the subject of body shaming in the past. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she recalled getting "many, many, many" messages a day about her appearance.
"Things most people will never have said to them in their lives because most of polite society keeps people from walking up to each other at a Target and going like, 'You're fat, you're ugly and you deserve to die,'" she said. "People had a very swift and strong and allergic reaction to what I looked like, and they made it very clear to me."
Dunham also noted her personal struggles with body image, as well as mental and physical health, which contributed to her own negative feelings. In February 2019, she proclaimed that she was "the happiest I've ever been" after gaining weight.
In February 2022, she even celebrated a milestone moment at the beach, which she said she "was scared of" until she was 10 years old.
"[I] would cry hysterically if I touched sand," she recalled in an Instagram caption showing her enjoying the beach with husband Luis Felber while wearing a gorgeous yellow swimsuit.
