Lena Waithe and Alana Mayo Have Separated Just Two Months After Marrying
Even longtime love stories sometimes end up fizzling out.
Lena Waithe and longtime girlfriend Alana Mayo have officially parted ways. A representative for Waithe confirmed the news to People just two months after the pair tied the knot in a secret, spur-of-the-moment San Francisco ceremony.
"After careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways," Waithe and Mayo said in a statement to People on Wednesday (January 22). "We have nothing but support for one another and ask that you respect our privacy during this time."
The pair didn't elaborate on what caused the split, but it looks like their romance has indeed come to an end.

Waithe took to The Ellen DeGeneres Show in November, where she revealed that she and Mayo had married in secret. Speaking with guest host John Legend, she confirmed they "snuck and did it."
"We didn't make any announcements. We went to San Francisco. We went to the courthouse. Got married right in front of] Harvey Milk's bust. It was her idea, as all good things are. And she was just driving and she saw the courthouse and she said, ‘We should get married there.' And I said, ‘Cool, I'm down.'"
Waithe originally proposed to Mayo back in 2017 on Thanksgiving on a trip to Tokyo.
"It was a humbling day, you know, to marry someone so amazing, but also to really appreciate all the work that so many people have put in for us to be able to do that," Waithe said of their decision to wed. "Everybody should be able to do that."
