Let's Dance: Inside the New York City Ballet's Fall for Fashion Gala

1 of 11

It’s hard to believe that the New York City Ballet’s annual Fall Fashion Gala hasn’t been around forever. The event, which celebrated its 10th anniversary on September 28, has become a staple of the New York City social calendar, and with good reason—it’s one of the most glamorous and exciting nights in town, and it never fails to deliver a potent mix of culture and couture.

This year was no different. Guests including Billy Porter, Zac Posen, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Amy Sedaris, Queen Latifah, and Tyler the Creator made their way to Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater for the event—which honored NYCB Vice Chair Sarah Jessica Parker—and were treated to a program that included the world premiere of Gianna Reisen’s work “Play Time,” featuring a commissioned score by Solange Knowles and costumes designed by Alejandro Gómez Palomo, as well as the world premiere of Kyle Abraham’s “Love Letter (on shuffle),” with music by James Blake, and the first live performance of Justin Peck’s “Solo,”with music by Samuel Barber and costumes by Raf Simons. The event raised $3.4 million for the New York City Ballet.
