Lewis Hamilton mocked for dressing exactly like Princess Diana

In the same week that Lewis Hamilton criticised his nephew for wearing a ‘princess dress’, the Formula 1 star too has been mocked for dressing ‘like a girl.’

Remember the Fashion Awards held earlier this month? Well, Hamilton rocked up in a tartan suit, black turtleneck knit and a string of pearls around his neck.

Coincidentally, it’s pretty similar to the look worn by Princess Diana at a Christmas event in 1993.

One Twitter user made the comparison in a tweet that has since racked up over 20,000 retweets and almost 60,000 likes.

The tweet has caused tons of supportive replies with memes and GIFs aplenty. One person summed it up perfectly: “YO! You won the internet this week.”

Earlier this week, Hamilton was forced to apologise after posting a now-deleted video of his nephew playing in a dress on Christmas Day.

“I’m so sad right now… Look at my nephew…” the 32-year-old could be heard saying.

“Why are you wearing a princess dress? Is that what you got for Christmas?” he then says to his nephew before ending it with: “Boys don’t wear princess dresses!”

People across social media promptly accused him of shaming a child and trying to enforce gender stereotypes.

Hamilton wrote an apology on Instagram, saying: “Yesterday I was playing around with my nephew and realised that my words were inappropriate so I removed the post. I meant no harm and did not mean to offend anyone at all.”

“I love that my nephew feels free to express himself the way we all should.”
