  • Liam Hemsworth took to Instagram tonight to explain that he and Miley Cyrus "have recently separated" and that he wishes her "nothing but health and happiness going forward."

  • In the wake of the news frenzy surrounding their split, the actor emphasized that hasn't made and won't make any comments to media outlets about the matter.

  • Cyrus and Hemsworth announced their breakup over the weekend, over seven months after they got married.

Liam Hemsworth has broken his Instagram silence regarding his breakup with spouse Miley Cyrus. The actor shared a personal note on the app late this evening to explain that he has good wishes for his now ex, and to clarify that he won't be speaking to the media about the "private matter."

Hi all
Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward.
This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false.
Peace and Love.

The 29-year-old's comments come after it was reported that he told Daily Mail Australia, "You don't understand what it's like. I don't want to talk about it mate."

Cyrus also seemed to respond to their breakup in an Instagram post over the weekend where she discussed personal change. "Don't fight evolution, because you will never win," she wrote, adding that "change is inevitable."

Cyrus and Hemsworth, who'd been together for a decade and married in December 2018, announced their split on Saturday. A rep for the singer said at the time, "Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy."
