Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy Opens at Disney World

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines.

An action-packed adventure awaits at Disney World's Hollywood Studios. On March 31st, the Disney World theme park welcomed Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, which features a 10-minute show starring Monty "Lightning" McQueen from the Pixar movie series Cars. The impressive theater consists of a 17-foot-tall wraparound screen that stretches 200+ feet from one side to the other, making for an immersive experience for all guests.

"Disney Parks Live Entertainment worked closely with the creative team at Pixar to bring this completely new Cars story to life," a Disney press release states. "Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy will run continuously throughout the day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios."

When the show wraps, you can head to the courtyard outside for a meet-and-greet with the anthropomorphic car, Cruz Ramirez, bust a move with the DJ, or walk over to the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, which is right by the racing academy. Several times a day at the Racing Academy, guests will also be delighted to see Lightning McQueen’s Pit Crew join the crowd for “DJ’s Ready! Set! Party Time!” featuring games and dancing inspired by Cars.
