Lili Reinhart is opening up about dealing with depression in quarantine and her "rough" year so far. The actress spoke with Refinery 29 about feeling like she was in a "black tunnel [that] was never going to end" and how she eventually managed to move forward.

"I couldn't see the light. I was like, I feel like I'm dying," she told Refinery. "It was f*cking rough, and there's no other way through it than just through it." Lili explained that while she has seen some people use things like food, sex, and drinking to cope with "heartache and grief and breakups," that's not how she wanted to handle it.

"The void is still there," she explained. "I took the road less traveled and just dealt with my sh*t. I had to face my own pain head-on."

The actress also admitted that things have been very hard recently. "The last couple of months have probably [been] the most emotional few months of my entire life and my therapist [told] me, 'Your body's going through withdrawal from love.'"

Lili continued, saying that her therapist told her, "'You're used to having this exchange of happy chemicals between you and the person that you're with.' In moments of my life, I have dropped every ounce of pride that I had just to be like, Love me. Please take the pain away for a day, a second, an hour, just so I can feel that fix again."

Back in May, sources reported that Lili and her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Cole Sprouse had broken up. Many assumed that Lili's statements to Refinery had to do with the split, but Lili denied the claims on Twitter.

"Quotes taken from my most recent interview are not about a 'breakup,'" she said. "They are about the depression I’ve felt over these last few months. Tired of people taking my words out of context and piecing together their own story for clickbait."

These days, Lili has a lot of things to look forward to. Her debut book of poetry, Swimming Lessons, comes out next month. She is also staring in and executive producing Amazon's upcoming teen drama, Chemical Hearts, which will be available to stream on August 21st. On top of that, the creator of Riverdale announced yesterday that the show is back in pre-production after being shutdown for the coronavirus. This means filming on season five will begin soon and Lili will be heading back to Vancouver to continue playing Betty Cooper. While there, she will be reunited with her ex, Cole. Some sources believe they will get back together once they're back to spending so much time together, but we will have to wait and see.
