Speaking of holiday cheer, fan-favorite grocer Trader Joe’s has staked its claim as the most spirited by gifting shoppers a bevy of appropriately themed products fit for the season. Whether you’re hosting dinner or exchanging presents, we can all agree that this time of year can be offer up the unexpected, and TJ’s newest product is nothing if not a lean-in.

Most diehard fans are aware of the retailer's famed cheese selection, and the chain has continued to expand its offering to include spreads and other goods to complement its already eye-popping inventory. Perhaps the most talked about fromage TJ’s offers is the delicious cheddar-parmesan hybrid known as Unexpected Cheddar. Capitalizing on the cheese’s success and the subsequent launch of a spread of the same name, the chain has added a seasonal variation to the mix—and we’re thoroughly intrigued.
Cheese lover will definitely want to cue the jingle bells because the Trader Joe’s Holiday Cheer Unexpected Cheddar Cheese Spread has officially made its debut! The festive spread skews in a decidedly sweeter direction than its hatch chile-flavored predecessor, but that's because, understandably, everything’s sweeter around the holidays. Flavor-wise, the base of the spread is the familiar salty, creamy taste of the revered cheese; however, the top notes include sweet dried cranberries, warm earthy cinnamon and a splash of Riesling.

The “jaw-dropping” new flavor was spotted by @tradejoesnew on Instagram and fans were quick to share similar sentiments after seeing the post. “SPRINTING TO TJS,” said one person. “My, my, my! What do we have here??,” wondered another. A few fans posed the question we’re all thinking: “What are we planning to use this on though????”
Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait long for recommendations and we can’t wait to try some of the ideas. “With the new/seasonal cornbread crackers! I’m so excited to make a cheese board with this ??,” one person chimed in. Another said, “OOOH! I can see this being used for turkey sandwiches.”
A container of the limited-edition spread will set you back just $5 and at that good of a price, you might want to grab an extra as backup just in case the first one doesn’t make it all the way home.
