Lindsay Lohan Reveals We’ve All Been Mispronouncing Her Last Name
Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan's last name is not pronounced the way you think it is–unless you're Irish and already know better.
While promoting her new movie Irish Wish, which premieres this Friday, March 15, Lindsay sat down with her brother Dakota "Cody" Lohan for a special Netflix edition of "siblings fact check" which is pretty similar to the game Two Truths and a Lie.
During their chat, the siblings took turns reading the contents of cue cards and guessing whether or not the statements were true or false. One of the questions included in the conversation was: "The proper pronunciation of Dakota's last name is 'Low-in' and not 'Low-han.'"
"So this is a confusing one," the 37-year-old actress admitted. "Because some people say 'Low-in,' in Ireland, they say 'Low-in.'"
"So, yes, Irish, our last name is Irish, so it's technically pronounced, 'Low-in,'" Dakota, 27, interjected. "But we've been called 'Low-han' forever. It's been said 'Low-han' forever, I guess, like the East Coast slang."
"Yeah, so it's either or," Lindsay joked. "Depends on where you are."
Dakota agreed, telling his older sister and the producers, "It's like tomato, tomato, type thing. You can do whatever you want."
While people in Ireland may disagree, there is no doubt that the rest of the questions had undebatable answers.
Other topics discussed by the duo were Lindsay's academic performance–and spoiler, she wasn't good at math or science–where the Mean Girls (2004) alum was born, which, if you didn't know, now you do: the Bronx. The fact that Dakota also starred in the Parent Trap (1998), obtaining a small role as a baby, and the details behind Lindsay's life-saving actions as she rescued her brother from what could have been a devastating drowning accident while the family was in Canada to support her as she filmed Get a Clue (2002).
