There aren't many things that give me more happiness than seeing my cat batten the hatches and squeeze his eyes tight as I come in for kisses (or as we say in my household, keeesses), but clean skincare that makes my routine more efficient is up there. Ogee's Liquid Gold Cleansing Oil is just that: A hydrating cleanser and make-up remover that lets me use less moisturizer, all in one.

Through quarantine and work-from-home life, my daily face of makeup has fluctuated. I didn't touch complexion products for months thanks to a combination of masks and living alone, but a recent flare-up of seborrheic dermatitis sent me back into the embrace of foundation and setting powder. So, while I've been using the Cleansing Oil since the brand sent it over last May, I only recently realized how well the formula works: Two squirts of the silky liquid makes my entire face of makeup slide off without any struggle, and even mascara immediately disappears.

That's impressive on its own, and I also appreciate that the cleansing oil is so skin-friendly, my face feels moisturized and, dare I say, plush after using it. Behind the effect is a combination of organic jojoba oil, olive fruit oil, vitamin E, elderberry fruit extract, and frankincense extract. You may have heard about the former: Jojoba oil is a skincare mainstay with an impressive rap sheet, thanks to abundant antioxidants and fatty acids.

Olive oil, meanwhile, is allegedly behind J.Lo's eternal glow, and vitamin E is an antioxidant that wards off free radical damage as it brightens and evens skin, as dermatologist Joshua Zeichner, M.D., previously told InStyle. Elderberry extract shows promise for decreasing sun-induced skin damage, according to researchers, and frankincense extract is anti-inflammatory and can improve skin elasticity.

I'm not the only fan: Shoppers on Ogee's website wrote that the Cleansing Oil helps their wrinkles, and the smell — a phthalate-free mix of geranium, ylang ylang, marigold, and daisy oil — is sensational. One person said it also left their pores "noticeably smaller," and their skin looks so good, the reviewer's daughter asked if they could use it, too.

"I believe it has changed the texture of my 65-year-old skin for the better," wrote a penultimate user. "My skin is no longer dry." As a last 60-year-old said, five weeks of using the cleanser made a "dramatic difference" in their aging skin — not too shabby for a single step. I still use moisturizer, but the second my dermatitis calms down, I might just go it alone with the Ogee Liquid Gold Cleansing Oil.
