I tried the $24 'liquid lash extensions' mascara that’s all over Instagram — and it’s really good

I’ve always had issues with mascara. I have very sensitive, dry eyes that are prone to irritation, so most mascaras exacerbate the problem. My face also seems to be shaped in such a way that my mascara always ends up smeared under the outer corners of my eyes after an hour of wear. Naturally, it makes choosing mascara really hard. Even expensive mascaras from Chanel, Dior, and YSL don’t pass the test — they look great on my lashes but end up on my face shortly after.
Then, there’s the removing problem. Taking off mascara is the bane of my existence. Rubbing my eyes raw until it looks like I’ve been crying for hours, only to find that I still have mascara under my eyes the next morning just isn’t my idea of a good time. I was so done with mascara, I decided to stop wearing it altogether. In hindsight, I looked like a potato. I started tinting my lashes, which I still do, but just darkening my lashes doesn’t have the same transformative effect that mascara’s darkening, lengthening and volumizing properties lend to my face.
A few months ago I started to see videos of people using a vegan, cruelty-free mascara that makes it look like their eyelashes are growing with each coat. I’ve bought some pretty awful products off of Instagram thanks to videos like these, so I had my reservations. Recently the mascara landed on my desk, though, and I was excited to give it a try.
It passed my test with flying colors. Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara doesn’t transfer onto my face with wear, it lengthens my lashes like crazy, and it almost looks like it creates lashes where I don’t have any. The Lash Extensions mascara doesn’t flake, but has all the other benefits. Below are my lashes without and with the mascara.
Formulated with glossy polymers for a buildable result that doesn’t clump, this mascara creates tiny tubes around your lashes to elongate them. It also uses shea butter, castor seed oil, Orchid Stem Cell Complex, and Youth B5 Complex to condition your lashes as you wear it for longer, healthier lashes over time.
Perhaps most importantly, taking it off isn’t a battle. With warm water, the tubes around your eyelashes easily melt off without leaving your face streaky. No more rubbing. It’s no surprise the mascara has almost 9,000 near-perfect reviews.
