The ‘Little Mermaid’ Trailer Has a Fun SecretYouTube

The Little Mermaid’s new trailer dropped right in the middle of the Oscars on Sunday night, and turns out, it’s basically a shot-for-shot re-creation of the animated film’s original trailer from 1989, which—if you’re a card-carrying Disney adult—you’re going to find extremely cool. Watch it below, via Just Jared!

Literally obsessed, but also, just in case you somehow HAVEN’T seen the original Little Mermaid (respectfully, why???) and would like a plot description, here’s a delightful one from Disney:

“The Little Mermaid is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life—and her father’s crown—in jeopardy.”

Meanwhile, star Halle Bailey told ET, “I’m so excited for the release. I feel like I’ve been waiting for so long—we’ve been talking about it for a long time, but now that the rollout’s starting, I’m really grateful that everyone’s gonna get to see. I hope everyone likes it. We’ll see.”
