Last week, The Live with Kelly and Ryan star was seen using blotting paper on her face during the show after thinking her face looked too shiny on camera. As Kelly blotted her face, viewers at home were able to see the oil being absorbed. "I'm noticing on the feed here that my face looks extra glisten-y and so I thought I would just de-glisten. Too much face oil," Kelly told her costar Ryan Seacrest.
Ryan hilariously replied: "There is a little bit of grease on that." In response, Kelly added, "It's disgusting. Hello!"
Entertainment journalist and self-proclaimed Bravo historian Dave Quinn shared the epic moment on Twitter and wrote, “Kelly Ripa is just the best.” A few fans liked the post and some commended the former All My Children star for being so real.
Over the past few months, Kelly has been candid about her life, beauty routine and filming-from-home struggles. The hosts have recently returned to broadcasting their morning show virtually following the rise of the new Omicron variant. Earlier this year, Kelly joked: "We're coming to you from the studio, which we made to look like two separate bedrooms."
Prior to filming the show from home in the new year, Ryan and Kelly gained at-home filming experience in the beginning of the pandemic. During that time, the cohosts learned the challenge of looking too shiny on camera. In 2020, Kelly clapped back at fan complaints about the duo looking shiny on screen.
"First of all, let me just say, to people commenting about our appearance, how dare you and you’re lucky that we actually put clothes on," she quipped. "It’s harder than you think to roll out of bed and come to a TV show.'"
We're loving Kelly's candidness these days!
