From live music to Juneteenth events, here's 12 things to do in the valley this week
The Coachella Valley is home to a number of events and activities to enjoy — even now that season is over. If you're interested in filling your calendar, we've put together a list of 12 things happening this week in the valley and nearby communities.

Movies in the Park
The Palm Springs Cultural Center's Movies in the Park spring series ends this week with another classic film from the '80s. The free movies begin at sundown in the Downtown Park across from the Palm Springs Art Museum. Eventgoers are encouraged to dine early downtown or pick up takeout and picnic in the park before enjoying this week's movie, the beloved Chicago-set comedy "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

Boot Stompin' Tuesdays
If you're 21 or older and you love country music as much as you love a night out, this event is for you. From 6:30 to 10 p.m every Tuesday, you can head to the LIT Lounge at Fantasty Springs Resort Casino for country night, aka Boot Stompin' Tuesdays. These lively evenings are hosted by Big John Miller and KPLM The Big 106-FM, and they start off with free, fun and interactive line dance lessons hosted by "HomeTown Country Dancers" at 6:30 p.m. Each week features live performances by a different band, and this week's featured group is the Sarah Winchester Band.
When: 6:30-10 p.m. every Tuesday (including June 11)

IW Live at Indian Wells Resort
Acrisure Arena isn't the only local venue featuring live music this summer. If you're looking for a more intimate concert experience, the Indian Wells Resort Hotel presents weekly live music with songwriter/vocal coach/gospel singer Patrice Morris on Wednesdays and Marc Antonelli (singing tributes to David Foster, Josh Groban and more) on Fridays and Saturdays.
When: 6 p.m. every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday all summer

CV Rep Summer Cabaret Series presents: Broadway Showstoppers with Glenn Rosenblum
Come celebrate the golden age of Broadway and beyond with special guests Alix Korey, Kelly Lester and Susan Edwards Martin — with Michael Reno at the piano — during this event in Coachella Valley Repertory Summer Cabaret Series. Lester's Off-Broadway appearances include "The Baker’s Wife," "Woman of the Year" and "Sugar." Edwards Martin is a two-time Broadway World winner and the original "Lady Blues " on Broadway in the Tony Award-winning "Torch Song Trilogy."

Cocktail Cinema: 'The Stepford Wives'
Kick off your Thursday evening by purchasing a movie-inspired cocktail at the Meyerman Garden inside the Palm Springs Art Museum to celebrate a new season of Cocktail Cinema. This summer event series screens four films that explore "the dark side of suburban living, revealing the hidden struggles and tribulations behind the facade of the perfectly manicured lawns and white picket fences," as the museum's website states.
When: Cocktails start at 5 p.m., film begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 13

Good Vibrations Sound Bath
Enjoy this monthly class led by certified sound bath practitioner Lisa Botts at one of downtown Palm Springs' newest hotels. A sound bath is a deeply immersive, experiential meditation that delivers you to a fully relaxed state of ease, so if you're looking to get out of your head and in tune with your inner self, put on some comfy clothes, grab a yoga mat or blanket and head to El Cielo, the upstairs event space at Drift Hotel. If a late-night happy hour is more your speed, grab your swimsuit and stick around for the weekly Jueves de Drift event (held from 7 to 10 p.m. every Thursday) for $5 tacos a la plancha, $5 beers and $8 cocktails alongside rotating live music — poolside.

Dive-In Movie Screening 'Trolls: Band Together'
Looking for a fun, family-friendly way to cool off this week? Head to the Palm Desert Aquatic Center for the start of the annual Summer Dive-In Movie Series. On Friday, the series kicks off with a screening of "Trolls Band Together," the continuing story of Poppy and Branch. Select pool areas will be open during the film screening, and slides and splash playground will be open. Snacks, refreshments and treats will be available for sale. Note: There is limited seating poolside, so guests are encouraged to bring towels for the grass areas. No outside chairs/furniture, food or beverages are allowed.
When: Gates open at 7:30 p.m., movie begins at sundown on Friday, June 14

Food Truck Fridays
Enjoy a weeky tradition in the heart of Indio. Food Truck Fridays continues this month, and the vendor lineup changes regularly, so it'll never be the same experience twice. Expect returning favorites and new eateries at this family and pet-friendly event. Whether you're craving sweet treats or a full meal, there's plenty of options, and live music and themed days to boot.

Desert Film Society Screening of 'The Rapture' ('Le Ravissement')
Enjoy an evening of French cinema at this Desert Film Society screening. The society describes this film as an "evocative, enigmatic psychological thriller" in which "an unhappy, lonely Parisian midwife tells a foolish lie and then has to live with the consequences." "The Rapture," which is in French and Serbian with subtitles, premiered at the 2023 Cannes Critics’ Week where it won the Prix SACD.

The Conservatory at CVRep presents 'Snow White'
Get ready for Greg Banks' childproof — and adult friendly — version of this beloved tale. This Snow White, portrayed by Haley Kooyman, tells her story her way. Kooyman and her sole castmate John Corr play all 14 roles, including the titular Snow White, Dwarf Four, the six other dwarves, the Hunstman, the Prince, the evil Stepmother and the mirror that just can’t leave well enough alone.

Annual Juneteenth Celebration
Celebrate Juneteenth early this year at the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center. Juneteenth is a federal holiday that recognizes and honors the emancipation of the final Black Americans who were enslaved — two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed — in Texas. This year’s Juneteenth event will be an array of educational fun, cultural activities, food and live entertainment produced by Coachella Valley community leaders and outside organizations.

General Patton Memorial Museum Father's Day Celebration
The mission of the General Patton Memorial Museum is to promote peace by honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans while educating visitors on modern U.S. military history. One way to honor said history is to bring dad to the museum this Father's Day, when all fathers receive free admission. Walk the halls of history with one of the most important men in your life and make memories for the whole family.

Palm Springs Art Museum presents Family+
Bring your family to the Palm Springs Art Museum every third Sunday of the month for Family+, a free event that transforms the museum into a creative hub where artists, makers and musicians come together to offer a variety of activities and workshops for people of all ages. This month, the theme is "Welcome Summer," and attendees can enjoy a drawing workshop with Matthew Sarmiento, a "scrap gallery" with Karen Riley, bow making with Eva and/or kite making with Onnissia Harries.
