Lizzo Opens the 2020 Grammys with a Flawless Powerhouse Performance
Lizzo delivered a high-energy medley performance of her two hits "Cuz I Love You" and "Truth Hurts" to open the 62nd annual Grammy Awards.
The pop star dedicated the night to NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, who tragically passed in a helicopter accident earlier today.
Lizzo kicked off the 62nd annual Grammy Awards with a bang.
The eight-time nominated singer opened the ceremony donning a shimmering, off-the-shoulder Christian Siriano gown as she belted out her hit "Cuz I Love You" and conducted the sitting orchestra behind her. Before beginning her performance, the "Juice" singer announced to the audience, "Tonight, is for Kobe." Her mention was the first of many referencing the news of basketball icon Kobe Bryant's tragic death from earlier today.
While taking a moment away for a costume change, ballerinas then took to the stage while the music transitioned into Lizzo's "Truth Hurts." The singer took center stage while wearing a long-sleeve, lined bodysuit to perform one of the most popular songs of the last year and perfectly executed her signature, high-paced choreography alongside her army of dancers. Oh, and she whipped out her flute for a killer instrumental solo as well.
"Welcome to the Grammys, bitch!" exclaimed Lizzo by the end of her performance, showcasing her lovable, uncensored sass. Aside from her stellar opening set, the star also sent jaws dropping on the red carpet with a white gown and intricate, high glam nail art dedicated to the eight nominations she earned tonight.
