Local authors gather at Community Arts of Elmira
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Local authors gathered at the Community Arts of Elmira for the “Write-On 607” event. The authors, hailing from the Twin Tiers, connected with the community with their own fiction and non-fiction books.
One of the authors, Racquel Williams of Elmira, reflected on how aspiring writers could use the event as a starting point to write books based on their ideas. Williams wrote her book, Victim to Victor, which talks about her adoption story from Brazil.

“Just to see that there are so many local authors is incredible and the fact that we can all get together and bounce ideas off of each other; I’m inspired just by seeing all of this work is definitely incredible,” said Williams.
Another author Nicole Colwell said, “I would encourage anybody to attend an event where authors are showcasing their work, but also if there’s anyone out there who has been putting off writing a book, it can absolutely be done, and everybody here is proof of that.”
One of the attendees Alexis Allsopp felt it was a good thing to see local authors and be able to learn from them.
“I think for younger people in the area, it’s nice to see that there are people creating things in a positive light and it’s inspiring to any age range,” said Allsopp.
The Community Arts of Elmira hopes to host the event again this upcoming holiday season.
