Local charity’s Family Fun Fest connects community with vital services
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Good times, community, and resources were all part of the 3rd Annual Family Fun Fest Saturday hosted by No More Dirty Inc. (NMD). The Huntsville-based charity is committed to transforming lives for the better through providing people with vital services.
Dozens from the community attended The Calvary Community Center, the location for this year’s event. “Events like this bring us all together,” said Huntsville resident Michelle Kedem.

The food and fun activities are one thing, but the voter registration booth and mobile health care clinic that were on site are all part of the event’s overall goal of raising community awareness according to NMD Founder Frederick Whitlow II.
“The reality is when people know they have somewhere to go and they’re informed and they’re actually connected, then there’s no disconnect,” Whitlow II said. “The disparity of impoverished situations, we can minimize that and our goal is to eliminate it.”
Whitlow II began the charity by helping people from less fortunate backgrounds on his mind.
The NMD founder explained how the event is part of a collective effort. “We transform lives by the lives that we see transformed,” Whitlow II told News 19.

Children are a large part of the Family Fun Fest. The HEALS mobile medical clinic provided free blood pressure screenings and dental advice for kids.
For parents like Kedem, taking advantage of this free opportunity is providing them with hope for a better tomorrow.
“It gives me assurance that there are people that really care about our community,” Kedem said. “Northwoods is a community that is in great need. With all of these organizations coming together and supporting us that’s a good showing of solidarity and we really appreciate that.”
Whitlow II says the event wouldn’t be possible without the many contributors who make it all come together.
Despite the rain, dozens of people attended the event, and organizers are looking forward to a bigger turnout next year in hopes of growing the impact it has on the community.
