ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — Johns Chapel A.M.E. Church wants to help people identify early signs of dementia.

The church will host a dementia workshop put on by SARCOA. It will be a training program for businesses and community members to help better, serve and recognize those who may be living with a cognitive decline.

The training involves taking a pre-test, a presentation, and then a post-test that could determine if you are certified to deal with those with dementia or can identify it.

The workshop hits home for the pastor of the church.

“On a personal note, before my father passed and made his transition, he struggled with dementia, and going to different workshops throughout the area helped me with the knowledge to how to assist my dad healthily,” Pastor Willie White said.

The workshop will be held at the church on September 18 at noon.
