? Friends of Charity Auto Fair, Raleigh County Memorial Airport, Beckley. The show features hundreds of hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, motorcycles, tuners, and trucks from all decades. Arts and crafts vendors, local business representatives, and food vendors will be on site for the two-day event. ? Elk River Summer Float 2024, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Sutton Dam, 939 Edgar Given Parkway, Sutton. This 5-mile float is good for beginner kayakers or groups with varied skill levels. ? WV State Water Festival, 200 Ballengree St., Hinton. This annual event showcases Summers County and the historical railroad town of Hinton. Among the many family-centered activities planned for the week are the coronation of Queen Mermaid and Little Miss Mermaid, live music, a craft show, street dance, rubber ducky race, pancake breakfasts, car show, quilt show, pretty baby contest, art show, fireman’s parade, grand parade, float trip, kayak race, fishing tournament, food, vendors.

? Moonlight Paddle Boarding, 9-11 p.m., Summersville Lake, Mt. Nebo. Lights will be added to the bottom of the paddle boards taking you out on Summersville Lake to Pirates Cove waterfall. “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” Thursday and Friday 7:30; Saturday (two shows) 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Carnegie Hall, 611 Church St., Lewisburg. “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” is the first-ever community-wide arts collaboration among Greenbrier Valley Theatre, Carnegie Hall, and Greenbrier Valley Chorale. This staged concert version features more than 50 performers, including nationally recognized actors, professional choreography and lighting, and a full chorus. Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney animated feature, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” showcases the film’s Academy Award-nominated score as well as new songs by composers Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. Rated PG: Suggestive themes and depictions of violence. July 31-Aug. 4

? Appalachian String Band Music Festival, begins at 9 a.m. July 31 and ends at 1 p.m. Aug. 4 at Camp Washington Carver, Winona. A five-day mountaintop gathering of musicians and friends with contests, concerts, workshops, square dances, camping and vendors. Old-time Appalachian music is presented to an audience of more than 3,000 musicians and string band music lovers of all ages. The festival attracts visitors and participants from all around the world including all 50 states and more than 20 foreign countries. Cost is $15.

Aug. 2

Aug. 2-3 — Mercer County Fair. Pikeview High School Complex, Eads Mill Road, Princeton. A weekend filled with family fun and something for everyone. Gate admission prices for the fair are as follows: Friday 8 a.m.-noon is Free. Noon until Close is $8 for adults, $5 for students. Saturday all day admission is $12 for adults, $10 for students. Admission for children under the age of 6 years old is free. Admission for active duty military and EMC is free with identification at the gate. Aug. 2-3 — Appalachian Arts and Crafts Fair, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center. Organized by the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, the Appalachian Arts & Crafts Fair is in its 59th year. The two-day fair features artists and crafters from across Appalachia. https://appalachianfestival.net.

Aug. 2-3 — Lewisburg Literary Festival. A multi-day event in historic downtown Lewisburg that features a variety of literary-based events. From mainstage series, featuring some of today’s top writers, to workshops and Literary Town Square, the event is open and free to everyone. lewisburgliteraryfestival.com.

Aug. 3 — Leisure Lanes Car Show, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. ,700 Johnstown Road, Beckley. Registration begins at 10 a.m.. Dash plaques for first 100 vehicles, trophies awarded (5 p.m.), door prizes and drawings. All proceeds benefit the Nicholas and Raleigh County humane societies.

Sunday, Aug. 4

? NeedlesEye Park guided hike, 1 p.m.-4 p.m., 943 Needleseye Road, Oak Hill. The city of Oak Hill is hosting a guided hike with a professional guide. This interpretive hike will explore the beautiful rock formations and natural beauty within the park. This round-trip hike is moderate and spans roughly two miles. ? West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival, 340 W. Main St., Clarksburg. The Festival offers a wide array of authentic Italian “street food,” complete with pastries, that one can eat on-the-go so that watching the entertainers and visiting the vendor booths can be done with ease! There is entertainment for the bambini as well, with a specially designated children’s area, with stage and entertainment for the kiddos, as well as a safe carnival midway, with rides and games. Top-named entertainers can be found on the main stage during the Festival. Previous years, Festival goers have enjoyed such notables as Tony Danza, Kathy Mattea, Jo Dee Messina, Steve Augeri, Joey Dee and the Starliters, and Frankie Avalon – all free of charge to the public.
