Jan. 17, 1999, in The Star: Thanks to the World Wide Web, virtually anyone anywhere will be able to witness a high point in Alabama political life tomorrow morning. By calling up www.aptv.org, a viewer with a computer can see a live broadcast of the inaugural parade and swearing-in ceremony of Gov.-elect Don Siegelman. It's believed to be the first time ever, for any state, that these ceremonies have been beamed out as a live news event on the web, says Chris Roquemore of Alabama Public Television. A special piece of downloaded software enables the video and audio signal to appear on the computer screen.
