Looking for fireworks? Here's where the sky will be lit up in the Stark County area

The Fourth of July is right around the corner and you know what that means — fireworks.

There are a slew of communities marking Independence Day with fireworks displays.

Here's a look at Fourth of July celebrations happening in the Stark County area and beyond:

Akron

The Rib, White and Blue Festival will be July 3 through 6 downtown. Admission is free. Events are planned for 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Lock 3 park, and will feature national and local rib vendors competing for best ribs, best sauce and people's choice award. Food includes ribs, pulled pork, chicken, corn and a variety of fair food.

Independence Day 2024: Greater Akron to celebrate July 4 with fireworks, ribs, rides and food trucks

The event will feature concerts every night at 7 p.m. on The Lock 3 Cleveland Clinic Stage. Bring a chair or rent one for $3. The lineup includes July 3: Sammy Deleon featuring The Michael Austin Project; July 4: Best of Times Styx Tribute featuring Right Now Van Halen Tribute; July 5: China Grove Doobie Brothers Tribute featuring Monica Robins and The Whiskey Kings; and July 6: Larry McCray featuring Willie B.

The fireworks on July 4 will be at 9:45 p.m. at downtown Lock 3, Patterson Park Sports Complex and Akron Fulton Airport. Tune in to 97.5 FM-WONE for updates on start time and to listen to patriotic soundtrack.

Alliance

Independence Day festivities, including food trucks and live music, will be at Silver Park, 2930 S. Union Ave., from 5 to 9 p.m. July 4. The fireworks will be at dusk.

Canton

The Monumental Fireworks display will begin at about 9:45 p.m. July 3 at McKinley Presidential Library & Museum, 800 McKinley Drive NW.

Entertainment will begin at 6 p.m. with EN-RICH-MENT of Stark County followed by Jimmy and the Soul Blazers at 7 p.m. Food trucks will be on site.

Carrollton

Carrollton's Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks will be from 4 to 11 p.m. July 5 at the Carroll County Fairgrounds, 106 Kensington Road. The Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary 2185 will host community fireworks to be set off around 10 p.m.

Admission and parking are free, but donations will be accepted. There will be a DJ, beer garden, vendor fair, food trucks and bounce houses.

Green

FreedomFest will be from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday at Boettler Park, 5300 Massillon Road, with family-friendly activities, games, local food vendors, live music and skydivers. Fireworks will begin at 10:15 p.m. (Rain date for fireworks only is Sunday.) Parking and admission are free. More information at https://www.cityofgreen.org/572/FreedomFest.

Jackson Township

The Lake Cable Community Independence Day Fireworks will be at Lake Cable Beach, 5725 Fulton Road NW, at 9:30 p.m. July 3 (rain date July 5). Lake Cable is a private, members-only lake.

Massillon

The City of Champions Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks will be July 3 at Duncan Plaza. The fireworks will begin at 9:45 p.m.

Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District

The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District will have fireworks at several of its lakes during the Fourth of July weekend. The display at Tappan Lake Park, 84000 Mallarnee Road, Deersville, is scheduled for 10 p.m. July 5.

Displays slated for July 6 include Atwood Lake Park, 9500 Lakeview Road NE, Mineral City; Charles Mill Lake Park, 1277A Ohio 430, Mansfield; and Seneca Lake Park, 22172 Park Road, Senecaville. All three of these shows begin at 10 p.m. Visitors can watch from land or water. Admission to the parks on the day of the display is $15 per vehicle.

New Philadelphia

Fireworks, provided by the City of New Philadelphia, will be at 10 p.m. July 6 at Tuscora Park. The display is being held in conjunction with the 47th annual First Town Days Festival, which runs from July 4 to 7. One of the best places to watch that show is at the ballfields at the park.

Events planned on July 6 during the festival include the annual McInturf Realty-Lawver Homes 5K Race, the Roberts Uniforms City versus County Softball Game, the Kiddie Pedal Tractor Pull sponsored by Parkway Auto Superstores, and the annual Baby Contest sponsored by Commercial and Savings Bank. Admission is free.

North Canton

The Community Celebration and Fireworks will be from 7 to 11 p.m. July 4 at Hoover High School, 525 Seventh St. NE. Food trucks will be set up at 6 p.m., and fireworks will begin after dark, around 10 p.m.

The Stark Community Jaycees July 4th Parade is from 10:30 a.m. to noon. This year will feature a quiet sensory-friendly portion of the parade before continuing normal noise levels.

Orrville

The Orrville Firefighters Association will play host to the 40th annual Fire in the Sky Celebration July 2-6. The Independence Day parade will be held at 7 p.m. July 2, with entry lineup beginning at 5 p.m. The parade will be rain or shine. There will be live music featuring Sobos, a classic rock band from Wooster at 8 p.m. July 6.

The fireworks display will begin at about 10:15 p.m. July 6. In the event of bad weather, fireworks will be postponed to the next clear night at 10:15 p.m.

Portage Lakes

The annual fireworks will be shot from the state park at 10 p.m. July 6. The rain date is July 7 for fireworks only. The Boat Parade will be held 1 p.m. July 6. To sign up or for more information contact Andy Shriner at 330-400-4470.
