Face masks have become part of our daily routines in order to keep people safe against the novel coronavirus. Masks are an important public health tool first, but they've also become a way to express your style as designers create some pretty fashionable coverings.

Now, fashion house Louis Vuitton unveiled a full face shield as part of its 2021 Cruise Collection, HighSnobiety reports. The shield features Vuitton's signature LV monogram pattern and covers the wearer's entire face. As many people probably won't do a whole lot of traveling during the pandemic, next year's collection was inspired by portraying a "stationary journey," according to the Louis Vuitton website. For now, there are no details about cost, or when—and how—you can buy this shield.

But it's safe to say the guard won't come cheap based on Vuitton's other pandemic-inspired products. In April, the company sold 6.7 pound dumbbells for $2,720 following exercise equipment shortages.

In lieu of the Vuitton shield, there are plenty of affordable face masks that you can order right now. Some manufacturers even donate a portion of their proceeds to nonprofit organizations and charities.

As a refresher, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends wearing a face covering whenever you cannot practice physical distancing in public. They advise choosing a mask that covers your nose and mouth, fits snugly, and is made up of at least two layers. Although shields offer additional protection, particularly for your eyes, they should not take the place of a mask.
