'Love Is Blind': Why Kwame Was Certain He'd Marry Chelsea

Despite his parents skipping his nuptials, Kwame knew he and Chelsea would say 'I do.'

Grab a gold goblet and settle in, because we have some Love Is Blind secrets to spill.

On April 14, Love Is Blind dropped the season four finale, confirming that Kwame Appiah and Chelsea Griffin did tie the knot after last week's cliffhanger episode. And while fans may've had doubts on whether Kwame and Chelsea would actually say "I do," the former soccer player exclusively revealed to Parade that he knew his wedding's outcome before walking down the aisle.

On why he was "confident" heading into his wedding, Kwame shared, "Not a lot of people knew, but we had actually gotten a lease the day before the wedding. And so, we knew going into it."

Despite already knowing the outcome, he confessed he was still "shaken up" while saying his vows. "We knew pretty well that we were, at least, looking to take that next step in our journey together," he noted, "and let it unfold."

Nonetheless, Chelsea, who also spoke with Parade in a separate interview, acknowledged that they didn't make the marriage decision lightly, as not having Kwame's mother's blessing was "a big deal."

"I had to think about what the consequences of that could be," she admitted. "Am I going to have her in my life? And that was really important to me. So we definitely had to think about those things, but we also had to put ourselves first."

And the duo is still standing by their romance, with Kwame recently sharing a glimpse at their off-screen relationship. Alongside a series of sweet photos and videos, the Netflix personality wrote, "All of this content was taken during our engagement, when the big cameras weren’t on us. We got to enjoy life, and communicate, in the ways that feel most natural to us. Just a quick response to anyone saying 'they have no chemistry,' or 'they don’t even love each other'.. based on what you saw, I don’t blame you for thinking that. But actually, we had the MOST fun together falling in love!"

Get another update from Kwame and Chelsea on April 16 at 8 p.m. ET, as that's when Netflix is airing the live season four reunion.
