Lucas Has the Whole Town Buzzing in the Penultimate Episode of 'When Calls the Heart'

Hearties! How we could there only be one episode left until the season finale of When Calls the Heart? Rest assured, there will be more episodes coming as the show has thankfully already been picked up for Season 11.

In this week's penultimate episode, all eyes are on Lucas (Chris McNally) after after he exposed Gov. Balfour's (Mark Brandon) true intentions for the water. Bolstered by an article Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) had written, Lucas is now the talk of the town and has put Hope Valley in the news across the region.

In "Long Time Running," Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) and the whole town rallies around Lucas, but everyone still worries it won’t be enough to stop the governor. Lucas is asked to run against the incumbent governor, but will he accept? If he does and wins the election, Lucas will need to move to Capital City, almost a day's train ride away. Before that, he'll need to hit the campaign trail to garner votes which means time away from Hope Valley and Elizabeth and little Jack (Hyland Goodrich).

Should Lucas make it to the governor's mansion, that would likely mean Elizabeth and Jack would move there as well, if the two finally say their vows. But as Hearties know, Elizabeth left the city life to become a teacher in Hope Valley. It's a decision she never regretted so will she regret her choices if she must take up residence in Capital City?

Around town, Henry (Martin Cummins) is assigned additional duties he wasn't expecting and the results pull at the heartstrings. Meanwhile, Mike (Ben Rosenbaum) remains undeterred after he missed out on his chance to escort Mei (Amanda Wong) to the governor's ball. After waiting too long to ask her, Mei eventually accepted Harry's (Brendan McRae) invitation instead. Mike decides to make a second attempt but will he be successful this time around?

The penultimate episode of When Calls the Heart airs on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. ET on Hallmark Channel and will be available to stream on the following Thursday on Hallmark Movies Now.
