Lucky Blue Smith, the Soon-to-Be Teen Dad, Talks Coachella and H&M
Lucky by name, lucky by nature, Lucky Blue Smith, the very handsome 18-year-old model and musician, has over 2.4 million Instagram followers, is on first-name terms with some of the world’s most famous designers (Karl, Stefano, Domenico, Hedi, anyone else?), and is about to lose his cherries for the first time in April. His Coachella cherries, people — get your mind out of the gutter! This will be the first time that Lucky Blue and his family band, The Atomics (his three older sisters, Pyper America, Starlie, and Daisy Clementine, are in the band with him), will play at the Coachella music festival. It’ll also be the first time Starlie, Daisy, and Lucky have ever attended the festival.
The H&M brand just launched an H&M Loves Coachella collection and a campaign to go with it. Yahoo Style caught up with this genetically blessed and musical family when they were in New York performing live for the launch event, where over 200 of their hardcore fans were treated to a special performance at the Times Square store.
Yahoo Style: Is this the first time you guys have collaborated with a fashion label?
The Atomics: Yes it is, and the first time going to Coachella and first time performing there too! A first for so many things.
YS: What is it like touring and traveling with three sisters, Lucky? And do you ever steal any beauty products from your sisters?
Lucky Blue: We haven’t done that many tours at all, but we have traveled together before, and that’s really fun. I am always stealing their hair spray! And Daisy always steals shampoo and conditioner from us. A lot of hair care between us all!
YS: Lucky Blue, you just announced you will be a father for the first time, with your girlfriend. Have you been playing any specific music to the baby?
LB: Nothing specific yet — I haven’t really thought about it like that. I talk to the baby bump a lot, and I guess Stormi comes to band practice, and I guess [there’s ] the music I play in my car too. I have been listening to a lot of old-school hip-hop.
YS: What about your style onstage? Is there anything specific you guys love to wear while performing?
LB: I play the drums, and I just like to be comfortable. We like to wear things that are comfortable but cool and still interesting.
Starlie: I am the lead singer, so for me, it has to be something really dramatic! Something I can dance in and something with movement — I like things with fringing. Our style is kind of like this H&M Coachella collection. It has something for all of us — comfort, drama, and cool looking!
The H&M Loves Coachella collection is now available at select U.S. stores and on the H&M site.
