Some people would say that beer isn’t appropriate for breakfast, but Smartmouth Brewing Co. begs to differ. Last year, the company released a limited-edition Lucky Charms-inspired brew called Saturday Morning. Time to change your morning meal plans, because the cereal beer is back!

The idea behind the IPA came from Saturday morning cartoons, according to company’s website. As a kid, you grabbed your favorite cereal and planted yourself in front of the TV for hours. You can still do that as an adult, but now it’s better because beer is involved! As described by Smartmouth, the Lucky Charms-esque beer is made with “pounds of marshmallows” that were toasted for flavor. It’s complete with “loads of citrusy and tropical, fruity hops.”

The hype around the Saturday Morning IPA was real last year, and the brand sold out of the brew. Luckily, you have a chance to get your hands on it, because it returned the limited-release beer on March 7. Since that was a while ago, some liquor stores and bars are already sold out of the 4-pack of 16-ounce cans and draft. However, both the Smartmouth Norfolk and Virginia Beach Tasting Rooms are still stocked with both, while supplies last, of course.

You’ll notice that the packaging got a makeover this year, with the cans going from red to green. The marshmallows featured on the can also look different, and less Lucky Charms-like. It only matters what’s on the inside, right?

The party continues through the evening, too, because Smartmouth released a new Saturday Night Imperial Stout this year! The 9% ABV beverage is made with potato chips, baked pizza dough, and chocolate malted milk balls. So basically, it’s made with all the things you crave after a long day of, well, beer.

The imperial stout also came out on March 7 on draft and in cans at the Smartmouth Tasting Rooms. It has dark, roasty, and bittersweet tastes, with notes of dark chocolate, cold-brewed coffee, and burnt sugar. It sounds like a whole dessert in a beer, so it looks like our ideal nightcap!

Not only do we have the Saturday Morning IPA back, but now we have something for the evening with the Saturday Night Imperial Stout. As if we ever needed an excuse to kick back with a couple beers on the weekend!
