Luke Perry’s Daughter Got A Mushroom Tattoo In Honor Of Her Dad
In early March of this year, Riverdale and 90210 actor Luke Perry passed away after a devastating stroke. On Tuesday, just a few days after sharing a heartwarming Instagram post about her father's burial (he asked to be laid to rest in an eco-friendly mushroom suit), Sophie Perry posted an Instagram Story photo of her newest tattoo: a mushroom in honor of her beloved father.
The 18-year-old, who is Luke's only daughter and a fundraiser for preschool development in Malawi, had the ink tattooed on her forearm, People reports, since the fungus is symbolic of her father and the way he was buried.
In case you missed it, Sophie's original post outlined her dad's final wish, which was to be put to rest in a mushroom burial suit. According to the makers of the shroud, the Infinity Burial Suit "cleanses the body and soil of toxins that would otherwise seep into the environment, delivers nutrients from the body to surrounding plant roots, and restarts life around the body faster than normal."
Because these suits are made of natural, biodegradable material without harsh chemicals or preservatives, they are said to "reunite the body with the earth," something Sophie points out made Luke more excited than she'd ever seen him.
Though Luke's daughter has been open about processing the loss quietly, she has also thanked her fans for their love and support during this time. Whenever she looks down at the mushroom on her forearm - her fourth tattoo - she will forever be reminded of her father.
"Now, mushrooms hold an entirely new meaning for me," she shared. I'm sure they will for all Luke Perry fans now as well.
