This Luxury Department Store is Offering Free Overnight Stays in a Swanky Apartment
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a luxurious department store all to yourself for just one night?
Now, you can find out.
The high-end department store, John Lewis, is giving visitors the chance to have a private sleepover in its shops at a swanky new pop-up apartment called The Residence.
Starting Saturday, September 16, the shop will launch this fully furnished in-store apartment — and give customers the chance to enjoy a free overnight stay with plenty of perks.
The Residence apartments, which will be located at the shop’s locations in London, Cambridge, and Liverpool, will include a spacious living room, a fully-furnished bedroom, and wardrobes that come stocked with garments and products from across the store’s home, fashion, and technology departments.
Meanwhile, the Residence at London's Oxford Street flagship location will also include a kitchen (complete with a wine cooler), a study room, and an indoor terrace overlooking Cavendish Square.

Customers staying overnight will have a private concierge from 6:30 p.m. to 9 a.m. the next morning, and can have the apartment stocked with your favorite snacks, a Waitrose breakfast basket delivered with a newspaper for brunch in bed, and (in London) an all-access tour of the shop's secret corridors, or an hour of private time with a personal shopper.
The Residence will also be available once a week for private dinner parties for up to 10 people, with a private chef preparing plates while a mixologist stirs up your favorite drinks. You’ll even be able to pick our your own playlist and table settings from the shop’s collections to personalize the event, while the store’s plasma televisions and board games will be on hand for after your meal.

Brunches can also be booked every Saturday for groups of up to six who want to sip mimosas in a particularly posh setting.
The Residence will also have free customer workshops during the day, teaching visitors home décor tips that range from choosing the right bedding to finding the best mood lighting features and hosting elaborate dinner parties.
Those looking to stay overnight at The Residence are invited to apply for a stay by visiting the shop’s concierge team at either of the locations on September 16 and 17, or on September 23 and 24, with customers selected at random for the opportunity.
For those who want to see the shop during the day, an expert Residence team will be available to assist with questions about the space, while all of the furnishings and products of The Residence will also be available for sale.
