Mad Lad Successfully Hits A Rail On A... Sled?

The internet never fails to deliver the goods.

This video featuring James (who doesn't have a last name on his social media profile—good for him, honestly), aka @sled_everything, involves perhaps the wackiest method of rail sliding I've ever seen.

Tap in below.

I know what you're thinking. This isn't skiing, and POWDER's supposed to be about skiing.

Well, I'm of the mind that this is certainly close enough to skiing to warrant a share, especially given how awesome it is. And I don't use the term "awesome" lightly (it is a bit of a tired word, too), but I'm unsure how else to describe the absurdity @sled_everything pulled off here.

To the average viewer, it probably looks like he's on his way to developing an entirely new sport. Yes, it's totally bizarre (not in a bad way!)—not to mention I really feel for his knees—but I bet that's what people thought of snowboarding when it first came about.

The truth is, though, @sled_everything, despite testing the limits of sledding, isn't the progenitor of freestyle sledding. As he noted in the comments section of one of his videos, there's "a surprising amount of freestyle sledding lore," meaning many of the stunts he does have been tried before.

So, I went digging and found this video from 15 years ago of a man double-backflipping a sled. Lore, indeed.
