Madonna Says It's 'Great to Be Alive' Following Hospitalization
Madonna is thriving nearly two months after the health scare that landed her in the ICU.
The singer took to Instagram yesterday, Aug. 18 to show us exactly how well she's doing after a getaway to Portugal in celebration of her birthday, uploading a montage full of the adventures she's grateful to be able to go on.
Backtracked by her own song "Vogue," the reel included a series of video clips and photos from her trip to Lisbon, where she dressed both up and down, took a dip in the ocean, rode a horse, went out dancing, and posed with her friends.
"It’s great to be Alive…………" she emphasized in the caption. "and Amazing to Be able to put on my dancing shoes and Celebrate my Birthday! ?????? Im So Grateful. Thank you Lisbon and to all who made it possible! ??????."
The pop queen, who just turned 65 on Wednesday, Aug. 16, was hospitalized with a serious bacterial infection in June.
In early July, she let everyone know she was "on the road to recovery," working hard to get well and reschedule the Celebration tour dates she postponed at the time. It wasn't an immediate recovery, with the "Material Singer" songstress expressing gratitude later that month for being able to "dance just a little bit" following her health scare, but now she's ready to get back out there.
The North American leg of the tour was originally set to begin last month. The tour will now begin Oct. 14 in London, with most North American dates rescheduled beginning in December.
