Madonna's Daughter Lourdes Recreates Iconic Music Video for New Song
Madonna and Lourdes Leon
She got it from her mama!
Lourdes Leon is taking a page out of her famous mother's book, or, more accurately, a frame out of her mother's music video. Performing under the stage name Lolahol, her new song "Spelling" is the perfect homage to Madonna's 1998 track "Frozen," which features on the album Ray of Light—her first album following Leon's birth in 1996.
Right from the opening shot the two look eerily similar, scanning down a dark landscape from above. The camera lifts in each to show a figure hovering above the ground, draped in black, with each shot filtered with a blue tint.
Each song continues with a variety of close-ups as the artist's lip sync the words before the next mirrored image occurs, where the women fall back and burst into a murder of crows before a Doberman takes center stage.
"Spelling" mimics its predecessor once again as it wraps up, with Leon dancing with a slew of other performers, while Madonna does the same with several versions of herself.
It's not the first time the younger artist has taken after her mother. Her own music career is blossoming, recently performing at a festival in Madrid. They have a similar fashion sense, as well, with Leon recently photographed in a dizzying sheer dress
They've also worked together on a number of projects, including 2012's "Superstar" and filming several video interludes that aired during Madonna's Madame X Tour in 2019.
Madonna is about to finally kick off her Celebration Tour after postponing the opening leg due to a recent health scare. She injured herself during rehearsal following the bacterial infection, but she didn't let it set her back any further.
