Planning your July 4th shopping? We’re taking a look at some of the major stores open on July 4, 2023. Whether you're planning to partake in classic July 4th celebrations like watching a fireworks display or enjoying a Fourth of July family barbecue in your backyard, these stores have you covered.
Of course, this will require some shopping ahead, and chances are, you’ll need to make some last-minute runs to the store to grab extra snacks or hot dogs for the grill, or else some July 4 decorations. So what stores are open on July 4th? Is Walmart open on July 4th? Or Target? And what stores are closed on July 4th? Luckily, many major chain stores are remaining open for the Fourth of July, either for normal hours or at least for limited hours.
Do note that store hours will vary by store location, so it’s still best to check specific hours with your local store before heading out.
Stores open on July 4th
Walmart
Walmart will be open during its regular hours on July 4. Walmart stores and Walmart Supercenters have different usual opening hours, so contact your local store to check opening times.
Kroger
Kroger stores will be open on July 4 and operating with regular store hours. However, again, hours can vary by location, so check with your local store for opening details.
The family of Kroger supermarkets should all have a similar Fourth of July policy as well. These stores include Kroger, Ralphs, Dillons, Smith’s, King Soopers, Fry’s, QFC, City Market, Owen’s, Jay C, Pay Less, Baker’s, Gerbes, Harris Teeter, Pick ‘n Save, Metro Market and Mariano’s.
Publix
Publix stores will be open usual hours on July 4.

Target
Target stores will be open their regular hours, which vary by location, on July 4. Check your local Target's usual hours before heading out.

CVS
CVS Pharmacy locations are expected to be open on July 4 for their regular hours. Last year, many CVS Pharmacy locations, including ones open 24 hours, were open with regular hours on Independence Day, a spokesperson said. However, some locations were closed or had reduced pharmacy hours for the holiday.
This year, call ahead to your local store or visit their website to confirm local store and pharmacy hours.

ALDI
ALDI stores operate limited hours on Independence Day, according to the company’s website. Specific holiday hours for your local store can be found using ALDI’s store locator.
Rite-Aid
July 4th hours for Rite-Aid should be regular at all of their locations. Last July 4, in all 24-hour Rite-Aid locations, the front end and pharmacy remained open 24 hours, and the front end remained open regular business hours in all stores.
Regardless, pharmacy hours may vary, so it’s best to check with your local Rite-Aid location for their front-end and pharmacy hours on July 4.
