'It's about making fashion accessible': ASOS reveals disability-friendly collaboration
ASOS has become quite the fashion trailblazer lately.
Over the last few months the online retailer has announced plans to ban the sale of mohair, silk, cashmere, and feather products; introduced more size-inclusive models; and refused to Photoshop stretch marks on swimwear models.
ASOS has now upped the ante, adding another much-needed change to the industry by offering representation for shoppers with disabilities.
Scroll through ASOS’s “New In” section and you’ll spot Chloe Ball-Hopkins, who uses a wheelchair, showing off an accessible one-piece she designed in collaboration with the brand.
An aspiring Paralympic athlete and BBC reporter, Ball-Hopkins has made her modeling debut with a tie-dye all-in-one jumpsuit for ASOS’s Design range.
Taking to Twitter, Ball-Hopkins discussed how she has been working with the brand to help create practical yet fashionable clothes for disabled people:
So over the last several months I have been working with @ASOS to create a fashionable, yet practical waterproof all in one! Not just for people like me in a chair but for anyone. It’s about making fashion accessible! So what should be next?! https://t.co/1gzzkRlED9 pic.twitter.com/7yS57QEmpD

Fans were quick to let her and ASOS know that they appreciated the move.
Brilliant! This is the most positive tweet to have appeared in my feed all week. We need more fashion companies to embrace accessibility (in its widest sense) to meet the needs of all their customers

Will be recommending. I’ve heard from so many people how demoralising it can be to have to choose ‘practical/boring/frumpy’ clothes because no choice. More please @asos x
