With the rise in fast-food prices, getting a drive-thru meal is more of a special treat than a regular event for those living on a budget.
So when you decide to spend money on fast-food, make sure it's the best place. USA TODAY 10Best released a list of the top-rated fast-food restaurants across the country, whether you are looking for classic fast-food or healthy and quick food.
A panel of experts submitted nominations for the rankings. Editors from 10Best narrowed the list down to finalists and the final rankings were determined by a reader vote.
Here's a look at some of the top categories and their Iowa locations. You can find more at 10best.usatoday.com.
What are the best fast-food restaurants?
Social media has been sparring over the best fast-food locations for years. Fortunately, two of the top three fast-food restaurants have locations in Iowa. There are at least 10 KFC locations in Iowa. There are 16 Chick-fil-A stores, four of which are around the Des Moines metro.
First place: Del Taco
Second place: KFC
Third place: Chick-fil-A
Best fast-casual restaurant
If you are looking to sit down at a restaurant but need a quick meal, Iowa is home to the best casual but fast restaurant chain in the country. QDOBA was voted as the number one fast-casual restaurant in the country, according to 10Best. You can find the Mexican fast food grill in nine different cities across Iowa. The other two winners do not have any Iowa locations.
First place: QDOBA Mexican
Second place: Torchy's Tacos
Third place: BurgerFi
An honorable mention that can not be overlooked on the list is the champion of Midwest fast food: Culver's. The home of the butter burger was ranked seventh out of 10 on 10Best's list.
Best restaurants for quick, healthy food
For those looking for a nutritious but fast option for dining, 10Best ranked the best restaurants for quick but healthy meals. Only one of the top three restaurants is in Iowa. Tropical Smoothie Cafe is located in nine different cities across Iowa.
First place: El Pollo Loco
Second place: Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe
Third place: Tropical Smoothie Cafe
