Marc Jacobs Debuts Whimsical ‘The Wizard of Oz’ Collection of Tote Bags, Ruby Red Heels and More Ahead of ‘Wicked’

Ahead of Wicked, Marc Jacobs returns to the Yellow Brick Road with his latest The Wizard of Oz-inspired collection.

To celebrate the legendary MGM film’s 85th anniversary, the Hollywood-loved fashion designer puts Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion and the Wicked Witch of the West and more icons onto his signature carryalls, apparel, jewelry and accessories. The Marc Jacobs x The Wizard of Oz collaboration ($95 to $550) features bestsellers with memorable scenes from the movie, such as the Sack Bag starring Dorothy’s ruby red slippers with blue gingham accents; Small, Medium and Large Tote Bags in canvas, leather and denim; Snapshot and Leather Mini cross-body bags; and mini wallets.

There are also oversized and cropped graphic tees; chunky silver charm bracelets, necklaces and bag straps (featuring the key to the Emerald City, Toto, red crystal-embellished slippers and more); a cashmere sweater emblazoned with “Surrender Dorothy”; a black denim jacket with matching jeans; and the statement-making rhinestone-embellished Kiki mary-jane platform heels. (Jacobs wore a similar pair by Prada when he accepted the first-ever Fashion Trailblazer Award at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards.)
“As The Wizard of Oz has been a favorite of Marc’s since childhood, this collection was created to celebrate cultural community collaborations at a meaningful time. For 85 years, this timeless story has provided strength and inspiration, and this collection aims to uplift and celebrate that enduring magic,” per a release. (The 1939 classic inspired the LGBTQ+ term “a friend of Dorothy,” as referenced in Clueless.)
Jacobs previously released nail polishes inspired by the iconic movie, including a sparkling ruby red shade called “Surrender Dorothy.”
