Mario Lopez Celebrates 34 Years of Friendship With Tiffani Thiessen
Mario Lopez is celebrating Saved by the Bell's 34th anniversary with a blast from the past.
On Aug. 23, the actor made an Instagram Reel soundtracked by a sped-up version of the 2000 hit "Teenage Dirtbag" by Wheatus. The clip begins with Lopez and his Saved By the Bell co-star Tiffani Thiessen in current day, wearing matching dark shirts standing in front of a bright yellow wall, smiling at each other.
The video then shows a slideshow of photos from the longtime friends' days on the hit teen sitcom, including on-set snaps from the series and event appearances. Lopez captioned the clip, "34 years ago. Just a couple of teenage knuckleheads… #TBT."
The throwback photos made fans feel so nostalgic. "Omg!!!! I absolutely love this!!! I watched Saved by the Bell religiously because of you two! @mariolopez," exclaimed a fan.
Another wrote, "We all had the best childhood ever, because of you two knuckleheads!! Love y’all!! ??????." A different fan wrote, "Que nostalgia, bellos!!!," which translates to "What nostalgia, beauties!!!"
When Lopez filled in for Ellen DeGeneres as a guest host on her show in 2018, he held a surprise reunion with Thiessen. The two prepared a recipe from Thiessen's cookbook Pull Up a Chair, which was a boozy date milkshake.
They also shared screentime together for Peacock's Saved By the Bell reboot, in which they reprised their characters. In the series, A.C. Slater worked as a physical education teacher at Bayside High School, while Kelly Kapowski ended up marrying Zack Morris, who became the governor of California. The show was unfortunately canceled in 2021 after two seasons.
