Mark Consuelos Says One of the Sexiest Things About Kelly Ripa Goes Beyond Her Looks
In a new interview, Mark Consuelos revealed that one of the sexiest things about his wife, Kelly Ripa, is her intelligence and thirst for knowledge.
“I’m married to one of the most voracious readers that you could ever meet. She reads and reads and reads and reads,” Mark said.
He also said she was a key player in their procurement of the rights to adapt the novel Mexican Gothic into a TV show, which they’re now developing with Hulu.
Everyone knows that Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have physical chemistry—they’ve never shied away from PDA-filled Instagram posts or even talking about their sex life. But in a new interview, Mark revealed that it’s not Kelly’s looks he finds most attractive. It’s her intelligence and thirst for knowledge.
The Riverdale star, 49, spoke with Bruce Bozzi on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy about their recent procurement of the rights to adapt Mexican Gothic, a novel by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, into a TV show which they’re now developing with Hulu, per Deadline.
“I’m married to one of the most voracious readers that you could ever meet. She reads and reads and reads and reads,” Mark said. “And I’m so attracted to my wife and not [just] on a physical level, but her brain is so sexy. Like she really knows so much … she’s been ahead of the curve so many times.”
Mark said Kelly picked up the book as a summer read and immediately saw its potential, so she checked to see if the rights were available and found herself in a bidding war against other major production companies. “She believed in it,” Mark explained. “She got on the horn with the writer… she got a phone and she talked about her vision for what the show could be, and it works. And we, she… we won, we literally won this, you know, this opportunity to make the show with Hulu.”
Kelly recommended the read to her Instagram followers in July. “Sublime horror for your summer reading,” she wrote. “So good I bought the hard copy and the download to read in the dark.” In August, she shared a stack of her favorite books.
In 2018, Kelly Ripa did her own interview on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy with Bruce Bozzi—and revealed that she knew Consuelos was the one right away (they eloped in 1996).
“I saw my husband in a photograph before I saw him, and I knew,” Ripa said. “I wasn’t looking to get married... but when I saw him, the photograph of him, I saw my entire future with him flash before—like I saw it. And I don’t believe in any of that, but now I do. Because of that moment.”
She told AOL that their lasting love has been all about communication. “That’s what you want in life, to have a good companion, somebody that loves you, that listens to you and is your equal in every way.”
