Mark Wahlberg Reveals He’s a Huge DJ Khaled Fan, and Teases a Potential Movie With the Singer
DJ Khaled has accrued quite a following in his nearly two-decade career, but it seems that his number one fan is none other than Mark Wahlberg. In a recent Rolling Stone profile of the multi-talented musician and avid golfer, Wahlberg praised Khaled as “one of the best entertainers in the world.”
After revealing to reporter Jeff Ihaza that he’s treating his newest LP, Til Next Time, “like it’s my last album…but not a goodbye,” Khaled announced his typically ambitious plans moving forward. “You’re going to start seeing and hearing about all these new things that I’m doing. I’m going to be doing more TV and film. We taking over the TV and film,” he proclaimed.
One of those plans apparently involves a movie with his biggest champion, Mark Wahlberg. At one point, Khaled excused himself from the interview to return a FaceTime from the perpetually shredded star. “When informed that a reporter is listening,” Ihaza writes, “Wahlberg says to make sure I tell everyone I’m ‘talking to one of the best entertainers in the world.’”
It’s unclear precisely what Wahlberg and Khaled spoke about. Rolling Stone notes that the call was to confirm upcoming social plans and that the two spoke “cryptically” about a planned film that's primed to launch Khaled to new heights.
According to the All I Do Is Win singer, his 14th LP speaks to that transition. “That’s what Til Next Time is. It’s like, I’m going to give you an incredible album, but also while I’m giving you that incredible album, you’re going to see all these big new moves that I’m doing and new categories that we going to take over,” Khaled told the outlet.
Til Next Time is expected to drop sometime in 2024. Wahlberg can next be seen in Apple TV+’s action-comedy The Family Plan, which arrives in theaters on December 15.
