Marriage proposal goes horribly wrong as man drops ring in a lake
Preparing to get down on one knee can be an extremely nerve-racking experience. Getting the moment just right is important, but the potential for slip-ups is huge, which is what one poor guy found out when he went to propose to the woman of his dreams.
Seth Dixon had chosen a romantic location at Loose Park in Kansas City, Mo., on top of a quiet wooden bridge. After pouring his heart out in a romantic speech, he looked set for a beaming “yes” from his partner of four years, Ruth Marie Salas, when the unthinkable happened.
Somehow the ring slipped from his hands and by a cruel twist of fate slid right through a slit in the timber bridge and into the river below — and the entire unbelievable incident was captured on camera and witnessed by friends.
The couple and a friend waded into the water to fish for the ring but had no luck. After the couple told their story at a church, acquaintances and even strangers tried locating the ring, to no avail.
A GoFundMe page has since been created to replace it.
