I can’t stop thinking about them.

Martha Stewart is stylish—and I’d be willing to fight anyone on that. Though the multi-hyphenate is older than I, she’s served so much style inspiration in the last days, I don’t know what to do with myself—or wallet or closet space. First, she wore the unstoppable fall 2024 jacket trend that’s blowing up, after which I promptly invested in a few for myself. Now, after seeing her in the most uncharacteristic footwear ever, I’m inspired to also slip into the style.

During her attendance at New York Fashion Week, Stewart posted plenty of looks onto her stories, but the one that shocked me the most was a simple trousers-and-jacket combo that she grounded with black platform booties that might look dangerous at first, but are undeniably cool. And let’s be honest: Fall 2024 is all about cool.

Stewart opted for fitted gray trousers, plus a barn jacket, simple white button down, colorful tie, and, of course, those stark booties that are cool, grungy, and a total must-have for fall 2024. We’ve seen plenty of celebs like Amal Clooney and Jennifer Lopez wearing the sandal version of this ankle-breaking silhouette, but given that temperatures are dropping, a platform boot is a reasonable alternative for a bit more coverage.

Black boots are a no-brainer for fall, and while there are plenty of iterations, like knee-high, combat, and pointed-toe, there’s no denying Stewart’s ageless platforms are the coolest out there. The chunky sole lifts you up—literally—while also giving a bold base that’ll take even the simplest outfit up a notch (or, well, three-inches).

Looks aside, platform boots also provide unexpected comfort; the ultra-high sole might scare you, but it actually provides an even height that balances out the heel (unlike a pencil-thin stiletto that can feel pretty unstable). Platform boots offer stability and support, so they look cool and wear easy. Talk about a winning shoe.

No wonder Stewart traded her go-to Skechers for a trendy alternative. I’m all in. Shop my favorite picks below, and yes, I’m really considering splurging on those Christian Louboutins.
