Martha Stewart Claps Back at Criticism Over Her SI Swimsuit Cover
Martha Stewart made history as one of this year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover models, but not all were fans of the publication's photos.
Following Stewart's big debut on Monday, May 15, the 81-year-old TV personality and chef found herself defending the photos and the effort she put in to achieve her ideal look.
While speaking with Variety the following day, Stewart told reporters that despite an overwhelming majority of positive feedback, she still had "a few naysayers" on Instagram that claimed that "the pictures are over-retouched," something she said is simply not true.
"They are incredibly accurate pictures," she said. "I was really pleased that there was not much airbrushing."

And when interviewers asked the Martha Stewart Living namesake what she thought of online trolls pushing the idea that she "had a lot of work done to look so good," she was straight to the point.

"Well, it’s not true," she told the outlet. "I’ve had absolutely no plastic surgery whatsoever."
Stewart continued, explaining that her overall good health, diet, lifestyle and regular visits to "skin doctors" are instead to blame. "I have very healthy, good hair. I drink green juice every day. I take my vitamins. I eat very healthfully. I have very good skin doctors. I’m very careful in the sun. I wear hats and I wear sunblock every single day," she revealed.
The home and garden pro also admitted that while she hasn't felt tempted to consider any major plastic surgery procedures, she has experimented with fillers.
"Every now and then, there are certain fillers that I can do for a little line here or there, but I hate Botox," Stewart said. "It’s a weird thing for me. I really and truly don’t do a lot."
Previously, Stewart opened up about how she prepared for the SI Swim cover shoot, saying she didn't "starve" herself, but avoided bread and pasta, as well as stuck to a workout regimen of pilates classes every other day–a habit she said she's continued.
