Martha Stewart Weighs in on Possible Second 'SI Swimsuit' Cover

Martha Stewart is ready for her close-up–and her second Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover shoot.
The 82-year-old lifestyle guru explained that, unlike last year when she made her big SI Swim debut, the next time she's asked to pose for the magazine's cover, she wants to rock a two-piece instead of a red one-piece with a plunging neckline. It's her "new objective."
"I'm working on the bikini body now," Stewart told People when reporters caught up with her on the red carpet at the 2023 Footwear News Achievement Awards, held in New York City on Wednesday, Nov. 29.
She also noted that "every day" on set in the Dominican Republic "was fun."
While she had a blast shooting for the 2023 edition of the mag in the months leading up to it, she admitted that an incredible amount of work went into preparing for it.
"That was a kind of request that I never had before," she told Today of being asked to pose for the cover with just two months notice.
But in those eight weeks, she remained dedicated and focused on giving fans a better pic than any of her "thirst trap" selfies thus far. In order to look and feel her best, Stewart explained she altered her diet ever-so-slightly and took up pilates–something she continued well after the cover debuted because she liked it so much.
"I didn't eat any bread or pasta for a couple of months," she revealed, noting that she made sure to get some sort of workout in while prepping for the shoot in Punta Cana. "I went to pilates every other day, and that was great," Stewart said, adding, "I'm still going to pilates every other day because it's so great."
While she said posing for the cover at her age "was a challenge," she's certain she "met the challenge."
"To me, it's a testament to good living, and I think all of us should think about good living, successful living, and not about aging," Stewart gushed. "The whole aging thing is so boring."
