Marvel May Have Hinted at Bringing Back Iron Man in a New TV show
Last weekend at Comic-Con, Marvel Studios announced a whole host of movies and Disney+ streaming TV shows. Natalie Portman as the new Thor? Into it. A Doctor Strange sequel exploring the multiverse? Please and thank you. Rachel Weisz in the Black Widow movie? Pump it into our veins.
But what might be the most low-key interesting announcement is the What If? animated series, which features a whole host of actors from the movies returning to lend their voices to stories that will see MCU moments go a completely different way.
But as the guys from Mr Sunday Movies pointed out, the logo has some very interesting reveals: Marvel Zombies and a Union Jack/Flag, which could represent either Brian Braddock as Captain Britain, like in the comics, or even Peggy Carter taking on the mantle.
It's been reported that the first episode of the show will see Hayley Atwell's character become a super soldier (and indeed, Stanley Tucci is back too). But what if she doesn't become Captain America, like the What If? comics, but Captain Britain?
Going beyond that, we can't help but notice Iron Man's face right next to the Marvel Zombies. Robert Downey Jr was not there on the large cast list for the announcement, but you know who was? Dominic Cooper. Also known as the young Howard Stark...
Could we see an episode where the Stark senior suits up? Or even Tom Holland's Peter Parker? Either way, Iron Man is Marvel Studios' most recognizable character and we know Disney loves its brand synergy.
Disney+ is set to launch What If? in the summer of 2021.
