‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino *Really* Wants Milo Ventimiglia to Join the Cast

Milo Ventimiglia is in high demand. 

Amy Sherman-Palladino, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel creator, revealed she’s itching to create a part for the This Is Us star on the hit Amazon comedy. But the timing has to be perfect.

Ventimiglia starred as Jess Mariano on the beloved Gilmore Girls (which Sherman-Palladino also created) and the two established a strong friendship. So much so that she’s been eagerly trying to find a way to work him into the story.

When asked about a potential Ventimiglia cameo in an interview with Variety, Sherman-Palladino said, “Don’t think it has not been discussed… It’s got to be the right part. It can’t be just a cameo. It’s got to have some meat to it.” We absolutely agree.

Since the season two teaser shows Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) exploring the idea of getting back into the dating game, one might assume this would be the perfect entry point for Ventimiglia. Alas, there’s that whole This Is Us thing.

Sherman-Palladino explained, “It’s also got to be a time when he can shave and cut his hair into a 1950s-period look,” which doesn’t quite work with Jack Pearson’s vibe. Nevertheless, she assured fans “the reuniting will definitely happen.”

Let’s hope timing works out come season three. If not, there are always wigs and fake mustaches.
