Masculine clothes, Moscow Mules and noodles: supermodel Doutzen Kroes shares her life's luxuries
The Dutch supermodel shares her favourite indulgences
What’s your definition of luxury?
Spending time with my family with no phone reception, just together on the beach.
Who are your favourite designers?
Céline, always, and Isabel Marant. I like wearing masculine clothes, so Officine Générale is another favourite. Comfort is very important. I usually wear quite simple clothes then dress them up with my accessories.
Which other little luxuries do you love?
Cashmere scarves – they’re nice to have on planes. I usually buy them when I travel. Then they have a memory attached to them as well.
What’s your dream watch?
The Piaget Possession with a turquoise strap. It’s great for summer; the colour really pops on tanned skin.
Possession 29mm watch in steel with diamonds, £3,200, Piaget
Your ultimate luxury escape?
I just got back from Brazil and was overwhelmed by the country and the culture. We stayed in little villages on the beach where there were no cars. We just went walking in the sand. It wasn’t very luxurious but it was amazing.
Which hotels do you like to stay in?
I like small, boutique hotels. Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa in Mexico is also excellent.
What are you drinking?
A Moscow Mule.
Which chef would you choose to make your ultimate dinner?
My mother- in-law. Bami (Indonesian noodles) is her signature dish.
Do you have a dream home?
I’d like to build my own eco-friendly house in Holland.
Which artist do you admire?
My friend Michael Angel, who’s based in New York. I just bought a piece of his work for my husband.
What single thing would make your life more luxurious?
More time. I’m lucky because I love my job, but I always want to spend more time with my family, so it’s difficult to find the right balance.
