‘The Masked Singer’ Season 3 Premiere Brings Guest Judge Jamie Foxx and the First Unmasking
*Warning spoilers ahead*
It’s here, people: season three of The Masked Singer. According to host Nick Cannon, this season is the “biggest by far.” Oh, and Jamie Foxx was our guest judge for the premiere episode. Here’s everything you missed.
The White Tiger
The biggest thing we learned about this contestant? He is skilled at clam-shucking and spent some time “in the ring” (he also mentioned New England). The Tiger started off with a performance of “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice. No surprise, Nicole Scherzinger already has a favorite—and although she’s positive it’s Jason Momoa, we’re not convinced. Judge Ken Jeong guessed the Tiger is John Cena, but we’ll have to wait and see.
The Turtle
Mr. Turtle first came out with a surfboard and clearly wants to make a “big splash.” This contestant chose “Kiss from a Rose” by Seal and quickly impressed the audience. This singer is arguably the one with the most impressive vocals. According to judge Jenny McCarthy, because of the bunny ears and burger cooking from the intro, it's possible the Turtle knows both the judge and her hubby, Donnie Wahlberg.
The Llama
This guy is definitely (OK, we think) a comedian or a radio host. His intro included a radio station and a deck of cards (curious...). For his performance, the Llama chose “She Bangs” by Ricky Martin. And while his voice sounded decent, his moves were a bit stiff (maybe because of his extra legs). Scherzinger noticed the ace of spades in his clue introduction and guessed David Spade. Not a bad guess...
Miss Monster
This gal wants to break out from the normal gender stereotypes, at least according to her introduction clip where she walked down the hallway of a school (?). She even brought out the original Monster for her performance of “Something to Talk About” by Bonnie Raitt. There’s definitely a twang in Miss Monster’s voice, but the judges seem to be fairly stumped with their best guesses being Dolly Parton and Mary J. Blige.
The Robot
“I have a heart and a lot of love to give,” according to the contestant under the Robot mask. His intro video involved chemistry and a laboratory. The Robot sang “I Am the Chosen One” by Lenny Kravitz and his performance included guitarists who looked like scientists (Albert Einstein to be exact) and a whole lot of smoke. While the judges guessed Floyd Mayweather, we definitely had other ideas...
The Kangaroo
During the clues portion, the Kangaroo revealed that she might be from the Outback, have a Grammy and have lost someone special to her. She performed “Dancing on My Own” by Calum Scott and quickly proved that she was in the music industry at some point in her professional career. The judges’ guesses included Sia, Kelly Rowland and Iggy Azalea.
Elimination
The masked singer with the least votes was the Robot. The panel revealed their final guesses were Floyd Mayweather, Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Shawn White and Flavor Flav. Unfortunately, they were all wayyy off base.
“TAKE IT OFF, TAKE IT OFF, TAKE IT OFF!”
Ladies and gentlemen, the Robot was...Lil Wayne! The premiere episode leave you wanting more? Luckily, The Masked Singer returns on Wednesday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
