Masters of Soul bringing Motown music to the Paramount in St. Cloud
Masters of Soul will take the Paramount Center for the Arts stage, bringing with it the glitz and glamour of full costuming and purposeful choreography.
With a focus on Motown and soul music legends, Masters of Soul, consisting of male and female performance groups, is backed by a live band. The group covers everything from Gladys Knight and The Pips to Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell to Diana Ross and The Supremes and The Four Tops as well as Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, Barry White, Sam and Dave, James Brown and The Temptations, among others.
“This is a show that we have had our eye on for a while,” said Gretchen Boulka, of the Paramount. “The music is so likeable; these are the songs that everybody knows no matter what their age.”
This performance, Boulka said, breathes life into American music history.
“Motown and soul have a real history that have shaped so much of American music today,” she said. “This group does a phenomenal job…it’s a really great sound and they have so much energy.”
Masters of Soul comes out of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and touts a 10-person performance group with three lead male vocalists and three female vocalists who’ve toured together for decades.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to get the whole family together or even a group of friends to have a fun night at the theater,” Boulka said. “We’re really excited to present this opportunity to everyone in town.”
The 90-minute show begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 11, at the Paramount Center for the Arts. Tickets are available at www.paramountarts.org and range from $22 to $25, students are $10.
