Mattel pays tribute to frontline workers with special edition collectible action figures
From New York City’s Blue Angels and Thunderbirds flyby to local parades, people around the world are finding unique ways to say thank you to those working on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic. Businesses, too, no matter how big or small, are doing their part to assist those most impacted by the crisis, whether by contributing proceeds or directly donating goods to essential workers.
Most recently, Mattel showed its support for heroes with a new set of collectible action figures, profits of which will go directly to the communities who need it most.
The #ThankYouHeroes collection, which launched on Wednesday, features 16 action figures represented by doctors, delivery drivers, nurses and EMTs. Five Little People Community Champions are also included in the collection, which features a grocery store worker, doctor, nurse, medical technician and delivery driver.
The initiative has taken off on social media, with people complimenting the “brilliant” idea and praising it as a creative way to address the coronavirus pandemic with children.
Love, love what Mattel has done to celebrate the front line heroes among us with these new healthcare action figures. Excellent way to introduce their sacrifices to little ones. #ThankYouHeroes https://t.co/Bh3crfjYTD

“#ThankYouHeroes is designed to immortalize and honor healthcare and every day heroes, and to drive additional donations to support first responders,” said Chuck Scothon, senior vice president of Fisher-Price, in a press release.
“Whether these toys are given as a gift to recognize someone working on the frontlines, or used as a tool to help children have conversations about how they are feeling, it is our hope that Fisher-Price toys, and play in general, can ultimately make these difficult times easier for both kids and adults,” he continued.
Until May 31, Mattel will be donating $15 from each figure purchased to FirstRespondersFirst, which provides essentials like food, clothing, accommodation, childcare and mental health support for these everyday heroes. The figures can be preordered on Mattel’s website for $20 each.
